Carolinas Sickle Cell Collaborative | Ambassador Program
We believe when compassionate influencers come together, our community is impacted for the better. So when Community Blood Center of the Carolinas approached us about finding a way to build much-needed dialogue around sickle cell disease, we knew we needed to start by inspiring the right advocates. Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder found predominately in African Americans with little public dialogue or advocacy. To inspire a meaningful word-of-mouth movement in our community, Carolinas Sickle Cell Collaborative was formed as an alliance between CBCC, Carolinas HealthCare System and Sickle Cell Partners of the Carolinas.
We began by inviting and inspiring a select team of difference-makers, drum-beaters and dream-believers to serve as sickle cell ambassadors equipping them with pass-it-on cards, educational materials and social media support. Further promotion efforts have expanded to include traditional print, environmental and social media campaigns.
Slowly but surely a movement is growing, new voices are being heard and lives are being changed as the Carolinas begins to#StepUp4Sickle.
